The PRPG at Unicamp published the Call no. 001/2026 to select up to four candidates for the postdoctoral fellowship Schmidt Science Fellows, carried out in partnership with Rhodes TrustThis opportunity is aimed at researchers in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science who expect to obtain their PhD between May 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027. The program offers an annual grant of US$110.000 for up to two years to conduct interdisciplinary research in a field distinct from the doctoral specialization, in addition to various opportunities for professional development.
While two or three letters of recommendation are more common in international calls for applications, the Schmidt Science Fellows program is extremely rigorous, requiring a broader perspective on the candidate through five to seven detailed recommendations. This approach is directly linked to the requirement to conduct research in a field different from the doctoral thesis: evaluators seek to identify in the researcher the intellectual flexibility and leadership potential necessary to innovate and solve complex problems in new fields of science.
To be considered for nomination by the university, candidates must submit complete documentation in English to prpgint@unicamp.br, as a single PDF file, between February 13th and [date missing]. March 31, 2026, until 17 PMThe application dossier should contain academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, personal statement, interdisciplinary research proposal, and five to seven detailed letters of recommendation.
