Unicamp celebrates the preliminary results of the Quadrennial Evaluation of Graduate Studies, conducted by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), which indicates that 54,4% of the University's academic programs achieved the highest possible rating of excellence. In the partial results, released this week, of the 84 graduate programs (PPGs) evaluated, 41 were classified with scores of 6 or 7 (scores range from 1 to 7). In addition, 43 PPGs are at levels 5, 6, and 7.
With the inclusion of programs that received a grade of 5, Unicamp stands out for excellence in 79,7% of its postgraduate system.
The final evaluation results will be released on May 29th. According to the CAPES calendar, requests for reconsideration may be submitted until February 11th. Therefore, the results could be even better, highlighting the importance of Unicamp in the national context of postgraduate studies.
The CAPES Evaluation System is structured in two complementary processes that monitor academic and professional master's and doctoral programs over four years, considering both entry and retention, as well as program performance. The evaluation follows pre-established criteria and requirements and covers 50 areas of knowledge.
Higher education institutions annually submit information through the Data Collection application, which is consolidated by the technical staff of CAPES. Postgraduate program proposals are analyzed by committees of experts, who prepare reports and assign grades to each course.
In a later stage, rapporteurs evaluate the issued opinions and define the course recommendations and the final grade, which is forwarded to the Ministry of Education for approval and renewal of recognition.
