History

First graduate programs at Unicamp

Unicamp's first graduate program was the master's degree in Orthodontics, which began in 1962 at the Piracicaba School of Dentistry, when that unit was still an isolated institute of higher education in the State of São Paulo. In June 1969, the Faculty of Food Engineering began offering master's courses in Food Technology and Food Sciences, which received authorization to operate in December of that same year. These pioneering programs were followed by master's and doctoral programs at the 'Gleb Wataghin' Institute of Physics, which began in March 1970.
